Auto Repair in Garden City, ID
Garden City, ID covers a total land area of just over four square miles, with a current estimated population approaching 12,000 people. It’s part of Ada County, surrounded by Boise but maintaining its own municipal government.
Garden City was named for the gardens raised by Chinese immigrants who once lived in the region. In fact, the city’s only main street is named Chinden Boulevard, a blending of the words “China” and “garden.” The Chinese community is mostly gone now, but it made an important contribution to the city’s heritage. In 1949, Ada County approved incorporation of the village of Garden City, promoted by a group of Boise businessmen in order to build gambling houses just outside the Boise city limits. Garden City then became an incorporated city in 1967.
